The ancient temple of Shri Lakshmi Narasimha in Shurpali (Shurpalaya) stands as a testament to centuries of devotion. The temple has been referenced in the revered Skanda Purana and is home to a sacred Ashwattha Vruksha (Peepal tree) in front of the main deity.
According to the Puranas, upon seeing the beauty of Shurpalaya, Lord Parashurama shed tears of joy, and where they fell, the sacred Peepal tree took root. The village is a stronghold of Madhwa Brahmins and was the Tapobhumi (spiritual practice ground) of Shri Yadavaryaru.
